Our Projects

It is not that Tiger need us to save them but we need them to save our planet and ourselves because without Nature we are nothing.

Dog Squad Refresher Course

The Dog Squad Refresher Course initiated by Saving Tiger Society has been a much needed project since it started two years ago.
Yearly refresher courses are conducted for the Dog Squads from all locations. These refresher courses follow a very thorough module and are also designed to update the dogs and their handlers on any new information, technique and/or materials , substances that might come across their path during field duty.

Dog Squad Project

A project conceptualised, implemented and managed by Saving Tiger Society. Started in 2016 with 4 dogs, it is one of the most successful and result oriented projects, it had shown to be extremely useful to the Forest Departments of various states where there have been a high levels of illegal activities and poaching.

Solar Power Project

Most rural areas are not well lighted like urban places or cities. Villages and settlements in remote locations are mostly dark, the unpaved roads don’t have lighting. The only light seen would be from homes and shops. People mostly rely on torches when travelling after dark..

School Project

A school that is a little different and gives that much more to its students.
Situated in the deep hinterland of Sundarbans, West Bengal, this is a primary school located in a small lovely village named Nafargunj.
A simple structure marks the school, with enough rooms to house classes Nursery to Class IV. In the front is a courtyard used by the children to play during break time…

Awareness Camps

Nothing can give results unless it is understood and accepted. Only when we understand issues and see the big picture of how things can be improved, that is when it is truly effective. This is the basis for Awareness campaigns, to help people understand how to improve their lives and live securely. These campaigns were regularly conducted in various highly sensitive areas where the local villagers would be living in close proximity to the forest where movement of wildlife was high.

Disaster Relief Aid

Sundarbans, due to its location, is susceptible to extreme weather conditions. Severe storms and cyclones are frequent occurrences in the area. Since 2020, these natural disasters have seen an increase and a few of them have created complete destruction during their onslaught.

Distribution Programs

Every year, Saving Tiger Society identifies well deserving people from villages who are most compromised, to distribute essential items that will help them in their time of need.

Medical Camps

Nature Education classes were conducted for the children in schools who also needed to be aware of the surrounding they lived in and to be aware. These classes helped them understand the various factors that could affect their lives, specially as these children were living in sensitive zones and chances of an untoward incident was always probable.

Sanitisation Drives

Keeping in mind the continued presence of the pandemic in the country and the various lengths of lockdown, Sanitisation drives were conducted by the organisation in vulnerable places like auto stands, local market places, in village areas for the wellness of the people. Disinfectant spray was used to sanitise and disinfect the mentioned public areas. This spraying was done regularly during the most crucial times of lockdown. Distribution of masks and soaps were also done. Saving Tiger Society handed out these items to random people and to every shop keeper, vendor, customer and to passers by as much as possible.

Compensation to Victims

There are incidents that happen at times which are unavoidable and at times can be detrimental or even fatal. Danger lurks everywhere when living in highly sensitive areas and in forests. Certain activities that give livelihood to the villagers unfortunately come with its own share of danger and risk.

Tiger Patrol Teams

In highly sensitive areas, where there is a constant danger of conflict between man and animal, specially predators like the Tiger, teams were organised who would patrol the areas at night.

Pench Mitra Project

Madhya Pradesh, a state with a huge presence of forests and wildlife.
The goal was to reduce the agricultural loss of farmers due to wild animals coming into their fields and eating/destroying their crops. Animals like deer and wild boar would enter the fields at night foraging for food.

Boundary Wall Project

Saving Tiger Society has been working to make boundary walls for the open wells in the sensitive zones of buffer areas in Pench Tiger Reserve. The villagers made wells for water reserves but the wells are totally open and due to that reason accidents happen, wildlife and sometime cattle fall into the wells. In order to reduce conflict and wildlife accidents, we are wanting to construct boundary walls for these kind of sensitive wells to protect our wildlife.
We need more support and positivity to continue our work in the field.
