Nafargunj Sunrise Nature Model School

A school that is a little different and gives that much more to its students.
Situated in the deep hinterland of Sundarbans, West Bengal, this is a primary school located in a small lovely village named Nafargunj.
A simple structure marks the school, with enough rooms to house classes Nursery to Class IV. In the front is a courtyard used by the children to play during break time. Also used for assembly and any outdoor functions like Flag hoisting ceremony or school programs. There is also an office and a staff room. A small staff of teachers and a caretaker comprise the team for the school. There are also present a couple of drivers who drive the school vans used to pick up and drop the children from their homes.
The transport is part of the school and the service is provided to the students.
The school provides a nutritious tiffin to the children. Also provided by the school to the children are all their school and study requirements, school syllabus books, stationery and any other relevant materials.

Methodology of the school

If you read the name of the school, it mentions the word Nature, this word holds much more meaning when it comes to the curriculum for the students. Here the students are not just taught their regular academic course, included in the syllabus is the subject of Nature and Environment studies. It might sound lofty, however it is broken down to its simplest form with everyday examples and practical knowledge.
The children are taken out and shown how to keep their immediate surroundings clean, they are taught how to manage trash, be plastic free and are also taught about saving water and living with the Nature.

The thought process and belief behind this subject and it’s teachings are that the Children are the next generation, the future and by starting the learning from a young ahe, they will find it will become a natural habit for them as they grow up and will then follow these practises which will help in the conservation of our environment.

This little school is the initiative of Saving Tiger Society and is completely dependent on donations and sponsors.
The school is in its 6th year and we are facing tough challenges in the recent changes that have hit the world.
We welcome donations to keep the school operational. Please support this project.
