Medical Camps

Health is important for everyone. Unfortunately in rural areas like the Sundarbans, medical facilities are few and far between. The inaccessibility, the distances, the remoteness of villages, the difficulty to travel, are all factors that deprive the people of any medical care and sometimes even the most basic medication.
Regular health check up camps, therefore, have become a necessity.
The NGO organises and conducts health check up camps at various sensitive and vulnerable areas in rotation throughout the year in Sundarbans.
The process of the health check up camp is that, qualified, professional doctors are at hand to check on patients, villagers. They are diagnosed and then given prescribed medication free of cost. Certain on the spot testing is also made available, like Blood Pressure checks, ECG tests.
These medical camps are entirely free of cost to the people.
In other states, health check up camps are conducted for the forest department staff. With the support and cooperation of the respective Forest Departments, these health camps are provided to the staff who are the caretakers of the forest, patrolling, guarding and always watchful for any untoward incidents. They live deep in the forests and are not close to any medical facility, nor are they near any major roads or towns being in very remote locations.
Regular medical camps are a necessity for them. The medical camps format is the same everywhere it is conducted. It is a free service given to the people who are vulnerable.
