Dog Squad Refresher Course

The Dog Squad Refresher Course initiated by Saving Tiger Society has been a much needed project since it started two years ago.
Yearly refresher courses are conducted for the Dog Squads from all locations. These refresher courses follow a very thorough module and are also designed to update the dogs and their handlers on any new information, technique and/or materials , substances that might come across their path during field duty.
The course is for a week and there are theory classes for the handlers and extensive and comprehensive practical training and classes for the dog and handler team.
All aspects of their job in their field are looked into and a thorough refresher training is conducted.
At the end of the course, a medical exam is given to the handlers, dogs and the drivers to evaluate their health and well being.
Apart from refresher course modules, there were also special sessions conducted to battle the poaching techniques and challenges faced in the field. Extreme Search and Tracking operations were carried out and practised.
At the end of the week, an evaluation is done of the entire period.
Post training results and feedback received have been very encouraging.
